The Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office Skopje appoints a prosecutor for cooperation between the civil sector and the prosecutor’s office in hate crime cases

The Chief Public Prosecutor of the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office Skopje has decided to appoint a public prosecutor to monitor the handling of hate crime and discrimination cases, announced the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office Skopje.

The nomination of Public Prosecutor Emilija Mizo Dimkov comes at the initiative of the Queer Center association, which will initiate the formation of a network of non-governmental organizations for closer cooperation between the civil sector and the public prosecutor’s office in handling hate crime and discrimination cases, with support from the Council of Europe.

The nominated public prosecutor will be responsible for monitoring these cases and establishing contact with the complainants and non-governmental organizations representing the interests of individuals who are victims in these cases.

This is the first time that the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office Skopje has appointed a prosecutor with such authority in dealing with hate crimes and their processing within the criminal justice system.
